A dynasty of women triumphs in the fiercely male-dominated world of high fashion amid the ruins of war. A daughter honors her mother's ultimate sacrifice - by becoming a ruthless businesswoman who will stop at nothing to raise high her family's name. Another daughter seeks to flee the toxic legacy of her family and live in peace. And both daughters have a date with destiny in a vault filled with Nazi gold...treasure that will alter the courses of both their lives....
Goodbye, Janette is a late masterpiece by Harold Robbins, America's most commercially successful and era-defining author of pulp fiction. The creator of erotic and ferocious turbocharged narratives of the soul-stricken rich and famous, Harold Robbins was in his day a close runner-up to Shakespeare and the Bible in numbers of books sold. Today his ability to create an unstoppable, mesmeric tale - someone famously said about him, "In Harold's books, the pages turn your fingers" - pushes him to the front ranks of pop novelists as new generations discover his awesome power.
Epic and intimate, moving from the icy nighttime streets of the Nazi occupation to the decadent beaches of St. Tropez, from the showrooms of Manhattan to the runways of Paris, Goodbye, Janette is a hypnotically gripping, mythic family saga of the power of blood to bind, to oppress, and finally to set free. Full of the shocking U-turns and unexpected revelations that make Harold Robbins a master storyteller, Goodbye, Janette transports the listener to a chic, dreamlike world where everyone wants an all-access pass...but the penalties for staying may be severe.

Goodbye Janette (Audible Audio Edition) Harold Robbins Barbara Rosenblat Audible Studios Books Reviews
Great book, I love Harold Robins, this book is, his on of the his master piece novel. A lot of scandals, very sexy and exiting.
Shipped quickly and received undamaged. Would order again
This is one of my favorite books. I have read it three times. I always enjoy it. I love Nanette.
Read most of his books. somehow missed this one.
Read this when I was a teenager, Harold Robbins was one of my favorite authors. It wasn't as good to me as it was in high school though.
I read all of Mr. Robbins' classics from the 60's and '70s when all he wrote went up the charts. I read them at the date of publishing, which shows my age. I am not a prude, but his books had compelling plots with sex mixed in back in the day. I always thought he could write about smoking cigarettes as if it were love-making. Every time he described smoking, I had to light up. That was before most of us quit smoking due to unrelenting pressure. I had high hopes for GOODBYE, JANETTE, expecting a blast from the past. This book was not that blast. Had I read reviews of his later stuff prior to reading this one, I would have known to pass it by. The consensus was that he was mailing it in for his late-career titles to pad his retirement fund. HR substitutes plot and character with graphic sex in GJ. A lot of graphic sex. If he wrote as well as he did in the height of his career, and THEN plugged in the 21st century sex, it would have been a pleasure. The copyright for this book is 2014, long after the author's death. If I were to speculate, Mr. Robbins' descendants perhaps hunted down Pop's drawers of unpublished or incomplete manuscripts and shoved them into print at further expense to HR's legacy. I wish I could report better quality for this posthumous book but this one should have stayed in the scraps file.
I am a Harold Robbins fan and this is another of his well written books. If you like Harold Robbins this is a must read.
Harold Robbins is still one of the great ones. The world lost a master at at his death. He left a great legacy.
