There comes a point in every young adults life when it’s time to leave the nest and embrace the world around you. You will discover so much about the world around you, from the jobs that you’ll have, to places you’ll visit, and foods you’ll try. It’s a great big world out there, and this small book is just a reminder of some things you should know about moving out and doing it on your own.

101 Things All Young Adults Should Know Moving Out eBook Josie Cluney

There was a time in the not-too-distant past when young people lived at home until they married. Period. It was unusual for a young man to live apart from his parents and scandalous for a young woman to do so. It was part social custom and part economics. Few young people had the finances to live independently and even young married couples tended to live with one set of parents or another. To my mind, the modern trend toward youngsters getting out from under the parental roof before marriage is a great improvement. I think that it should be the goal of every parent to foster independence. And that means making sure that your kid knows how to survive in the Wild without your help.

Most of the short "advice" books on Kindle are worthless, but this one is a pleasant surprise. Some of the information ("hacks" as we say now) is specific, but much of the advice is general and intended to get the reader thinking ahead. Someone once called it the "7 P's Philosophy: Pre-Prior Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance." A person of any age who plans ahead will always manage better than the one who puts out brush fires as they happen.

I think this little book would be a great gift to any young person. And if your particular youngster won't read it, read it yourself. It'll give you some great topics for discussion. Plus I picked up a wonderful idea about using my staple remover to deal with those damned ring things on key rings. Do you have any idea how many thumbnails I've broken trying to pry those bastards apart? A lot!

The message is simple: freedom isn't free. It comes with responsibilities. A person who isn't mature enough to shoulder those responsibilities isn't ready to live independently. This book is well- written, entertaining, and gets the point across. Can't ask for more than that, can you?

love it
Every parent should purchase this for this child going away to collage in my opinion. When you first move out of you're parents home, you don't realize how much they really do until you're out in the real world. This would make a perfect going away gift.
As a child and teenager you take so much for granted. Little did you realize how much your parents did for you until you leave as a cub leaves the den. Children need to learn what responsibility is. This book will definitely help any young person in the process of moving out. Great read.
When you stop living with your parents for the first time, you realize how much they did for you and how easy you had it all, but when you start living on your own, you realize that you will have to spend many more hours to do all the tasks that your parents did. It is just a part that comes when you mature and become an independent and responsible person. This book gives you tips and helpful advice on this part of your life.
